iBall Set to Launch Gaming Laptops Soon: Sources

  • Mumbai-based iBall may release gaming laptops

  • The company is known for its low pricing

  • This could result in lower pricing for gaming laptops in India

  •  One of the sticking points when it comes to PC gaming is the high cost involved in getting a decent enough gaming desktop. The same applies to gaming laptops. And while compromises can be made to ensure pricing on the former is in check, it’s the latter that’s a point of contention for many a gamer. There simply isn’t any cost-effective gaming laptop in the market right now. That may change soon though.

With the introduction of Android apps into the ecosystem, Chrome OS is now fast becoming the preferred choice for many. Looking at this rise in interest, Lenovo has also announced that it will launch its Yoga Book 2-in-1 with Chrome OS next year.

Lenovo's Vice President and General Manager of the Android and Chrome Computing Business Group, Jeff Meredith, confirmed this news to Laptop Mag. The Chinese PC giant has been selling the Yoga Book in two options already - Windows 10 or Android pre-installed. Now, a third Lenovo Yoga Book running on Chrome OS option will also be made available starting 2017.

We'll probably maintain the three distinctive products throughout this year at least," Meredith said speaking of the Chrome OS-powered Yoga Book. There is no tangible time frame announced for the release of this new variant, but it is confirmed that Lenovo is working on it.

Meredith has also confirmed that all the features, including the Real Pen, will work the same way as on Android. Lenovo launched the Yoga Book 2-in-1 at IFA this year, and made it available in India last week. The laptop claimed to be the "world's thinnest 2-in-1" is priced at Rs. 49,990, and is exclusively available on Flipkart. The 10 biggest announcements from Google I/O 2016

At I/O this year, Google displayed its vision for a more ubiquitous and conversational way of interacting with technology. Its Assistant is chattier, answering natural language queries with a more human voice, and it’s found its way into several new Google products: the messenger Allo and the Echo-like speaker Home. Both are areas where other companies have a lead, but Google’s strength in AI gave these services some nice twists, doing things like automatically generating surprisingly specific reactions to photos.
Google also announced improvements to Android — though N, out of beta this summer, still needs to be named — as well as a mobile VR platform that will come with the new OS. There’s a FaceTime rival Duo as well, and a way to run Android apps without downloading anything. Below are the 10 biggest announcements.

Google has a new VR platform

NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Lenovo has mocked bigger rivals Apple and Samsung in a YouTube video and a full-page ad in New York Times. The campaign titled 'Skip the Sevens" urges people to go for the company's flagship Moto z smartphone instead of iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Galaxy 7 or Galaxy Note 7.

The handset is then shown acting as a projector, playing loud music and more using interchangeable Moto Insta-Share Projector Mod and JBL SoundBoost Mod.

In the video, the company takes indirect potshot at iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus' battery life by showing the Moto Incipio offGRID Power Pack mod, which is claimed to give 22 hours of additional battery life. For those unaware, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus give 2 hours and 1 hours of extra battery life as compared to the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus.
In the video, before introducing the 'so-called' iPhone prototype, the presenter also asks users what they think about the latest iPhones. While some are shown saying that they really don't offer much of a difference. The others say that the new iPhones have 'little better' camera and 'little' faster processor.http://www.gadgetsnow.com/tech-news/Lenovo-to-Apple-fans-Moto-Zs-better-than-new-iPhones/articleshow/54358872.cms

Seagate 5TB Backup Plus Portable Launched; Highest Capacity Portable Drive Yet

Seagate has introduced a 5TB version of its Backup Plus Portable line of hard-drives, in what it’s claiming is “the largest capacity mobile drive on the market.” Put simply, if you need more storage on a single device than everyone else on the go, Seagate wants to be your only option.

If you’re wondering how big and heavy a 5TB portable hard-drive must be, the Seagate 5TB measures 11.5x7.8x2cm (LxWxD) in dimensions – almost twice as thick as a Backup Plus Slim drive (1.2cm) – and weighs less than a quarter of a kilogram, at 247 grams. That’s been made possible by Seagate’s new technology behind its 5TB BarraCuda internal hard-drive, which was itself announced only last month.

That means you can use the 5TB Backup Plus Portable without an external power source, which is convenient especially if you’re on the move. And there aren’t any data speed trade-offs, with the new Seagate drive capable of 120MB/s over a USB 3.0 connection

MacBook Pro 2016 Without Touch Bar Now Available in India

The new and improved MacBook Pro was launched with much fanfare last month; however no availability details for the Indian market were revealed then. Even now, the models are listed as 'coming soon' on the Apple website, but Gadgets 360 has learnt that Apple resellers across the country are now receiving stock of the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

We checked with a couple of Apple resellers who confirmed they have received stock, while another Mumbai-based retailer said they have not received any units. The 2016 MacBook Pro is not listed on any of the e-commerce websites either, so it's likely that the stock has only just started trickling in. Just to recap, the 13-inch MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar is priced at Rs. 1,29,900.

MacBook Pro 2016 Models Forego Classic Mac Startup Chime, Automatically Boot When the Lid Is Opened

Apple has made many changes with its new MacBook Pro models, which were launched last week, and the response has been mixed. While users were not amused by the removal of the glowing Apple logo at the back, they have largely been impressed by the new OLED 'Touch Bar' panel used as replacement of physical functional keys in the laptop. Now, reports indicate the new laptops don't make the usual startup chime that has been present on Mac products since 1998.

The startup chime essentially indicated that the laptop has completed the initial diagnostics successfully and that the laptop is ready for use. The lack of the startup chime was first reported by Pingie, which said that while going through a tech note for resetting the NVRAM, it found that the usual instruction for waiting for two startup chimes was missing. The site has now got its hands on the new MacBook Pro, base 13-inch variant, confirmed that there is no startup chime on the new laptops.
