And while compromises can be made to ensure pricing on the former is in check, it’s the latter that’s a point of contention for many a gamer. There simply isn’t any cost-effective gaming laptop in the market right now. That may change soon though.

Samsung Unveils CH711 Curved Quantum Dot Monitor for Gamers Ahead of CES 2017

 

Samsung on Thursday unveiled a new curved monitor with quantum dot technology, said to be designed for gamers. Called the Samsung CH711, the monitor will be officially launched at CES 2017, alongside price and exact availability details.

The Samsung CH711 curved quantum dot monitor will be available in 27-inch and 31.5-inch variants, while the company says it will be released in early 2017. It features an 1,800R radius curvature, and a 178-degree viewing angle. Both variants sport a QHD (2560x1440 pixel) resolution, and the quantum dot panels are rated to deliver nearly 125 percent sRGB colour gamut coverage.

The monitor can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally, while it can be flipped completely vertical as well - though this might be quite pointless with the Samsung CH711's curved display. It is said to sport a three-sided 'Boundless' design, with small bezels on top and either side. Power and HDMI cables from the monitor are hidden within its neck, giving the configuration a clean look.

 

iBall CompBook i360 Is a Rs. 12,999 Laptop With 360-Degree Rotating Display

 

iBall has launched the CompBook i360 convertible laptop with 360-degree rotatable display in the Indian market. Available in Vogue Soft Gold colour, the new iBall CompBook i360 is powered by Windows 10 and costs Rs. 12,999. iBall says the laptop "shall be available at leading retail stores in many places and within a week at all prominent stores across India." The company had aso launched the CompBook Flip-X5 laptop with a 360-degree rotatable touchscreen display in October earlier this year.

The company says that the multi-tasking tools made available with the iBall CompBook i360 laptop will help it find users in students, small-businesses, and even first time users. "With RDS3T (Robust Double Spindle 360-degree Technology), it can convert into four modes: Laptop, Tablet, Stand Mode and Tent Mode," iBall said in its release.

iBall ComBook i360 sports an 11.6-inch HD touchscreen display with support for multi-touch. The new ComBook i360 laptop is powered by a 1.84GHz Intel quad-core processor (unspecified) coupled with 2GB of RAM. It comes with an internal storage of 32GB, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 64GB).

The iBall ComBook i360 360-degree convertible laptop from the company houses a 10000mAh battery that, as per the company's claims, gives an average usage time of up to 7 hours, and video playbac

time of up to 7 hours. In terms of connectivity options, the iBall CompBook i360 offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (v4.0), HDMI port, and 2 USB ports (1 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 2.0).

Xiaomi Mi VR Play Launched In India

Xiaomi has entered into the virtual reality (VR) sector and live streaming in India. The company has launched it’s Mi VR Play VR headset and Mi Live streaming services in the country.

Xiaomi Mi VR headset is compatible with smartphones from 4.7-inch to 5.7-inch screen size and comes with two-way zipper design made of Lycra. The company has announced that it will be sold via the company’s India store. Dimensions of the headset are 201 x 107 x 91mm, and it weighs around 208 g without the straps.

The Mi.com website has listed the price of the Mi VR headset at Rs 999. However, the VR headset is already out of stock on the company’s website.

Mi’s VR device is certified to work with Google Cardboard apps and will be available exclusively on Mi.com and offline channels starting 21 December from 12 p.m. onwards.

The Mi VR headset comes with a Mi VR companion app which has 3D movies, 2D or gaming applications. The Mi VR Play app is Google Cardboard compatible and gives users access to the library of videos and apps on Google Play as well.

The app is not officially listed on the Google Play Store, and to download it you have to scan the QR code from the company website.

The headset offers a better display size than some of the other headsets in the market.

Acer Spin 7 'World's Thinnest Convertible Laptop' Launched

 

Acer had back at IFA 2016 launched new models in its Spin series of 2-in-1 laptops, alongside additions to the Swift and Predator series of devices. Acer on Wednesday has announced the launch of the Spin 7 laptop in India, priced at Rs. 1,09,000. It will be available across key retail stores in India, the company said.

The Windows 10 Home-based Acer Spin 7 is being touted as the world's thinnest convertible notebook, and bears an all-aluminium unibody that's 10.98mm thick. It weighs in at 1.2kg. The laptop's display can be rotated 360-degrees, converting the laptop into a tablet. The company at launch also touted that the laptop sports a 14-inch full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) IPS touchscreen display that fits in a chassis the size of a 13-inch laptop.

Other specifications of the Acer Spin 7 include a seventh-generation Intel Core i7-7Y75 processor, 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM, a 256GB SATA III SSD, and two USB Type-C (USB v3.1) ports. It features Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity, a memory card reader, and the company is promising a battery life up to 8 hours from the 4-cell 2770mAh battery on board. Also being touted is Dolby Audio Premium technology.

 

 

Samsung Notebook 9 Laptops Refreshed With Lightweight Design, Intel 'Kaby Lake' Processors

 

Samsung launched its Notebook 9 laptop lineup at its pre-CES 2016 event in January earlier this year. Now the South Korean company has revamped its Notebook 9 laptop lineup with a sleek and lightweight design that makes the 13.3-inch variant, which weighs around 810 grams, the lightest laptop of its category in the market, as per the company's claims.

Apart from the design, the Notebook 9 laptops have been upgraded with the seventh-generation 'Kaby Lake' Intel Core i5/ Core i7 processors as well as a faster storage and memory, as per the company. The 13.3-inch variant comes with the options of Intel Core i5 or i7 processor while the 15-inch variant will ship with only Core i7 processor.

Both the 13.3-inch and 15-inch laptops have been further updated with a fingerprint scanner for improved security, the company said in its release. The laptops come with a support for Windows Hello, which allows for a secure sign in with a single touch, without the need of typing the password, it said.

Lenovo Yoga Book 2-in-1 Running Chrome OS Set to Launch in 2017

 

With the introduction of Android apps into the ecosystem, Chrome OS is now fast becoming the preferred choice for many. Looking at this rise in interest, Lenovo has also announced that it will launch its Yoga Book 2-in-1 with Chrome OS next year.

Lenovo's Vice President and General Manager of the Android and Chrome Computing Business Group, Jeff Meredith, confirmed this news to Laptop Mag. The Chinese PC giant has been selling the Yoga Book in two options already - Windows 10 or Android pre-installed. Now, a third Lenovo Yoga Book running on Chrome OS option will also be made available starting 2017.

"We've had a lot of interest. It's an interesting idea for education, especially with the form factor. Over time, we probably see the Android and Chrome versions melding together, especially based on the fact that we've now seen Chrome roll out the Google Play store capability into Chrome. We'll probably maintain the three distinctive products throughout this year at least," Meredith said speaking of the Chrome OS-powered Yoga Book. There is no tangible time frame announced for the release of this new variant, but it is confirmed that Lenovo is working on it.

Meredith has also confirmed that all the features, including the Real Pen, will work the same way as on Android. Lenovo launched the Yoga Book 2-in-1 at IFA this year, and made it available in India last week. The laptop claimed to be the "world's thinnest 2-in-1" is priced at Rs. 49,990, and is exclusively available on Flipkart. In India, only the Windows variant has been launched, and the Android variant hasn't arrived yet.

Lenovo Yoga Book, 'World's Thinnest 2-in-1', Launched in India

 

The Lenovo Yoga Book 2-in-1 laptop was launched in India on Tuesday. The new Lenovo Yoga Book laptop, which was unveiled at IFA 2016, is claimed to be the "world's thinnest 2-in-1", is priced at Rs. 49,990. Key highlights of the Lenovo Yoga Book hybrid laptop include a first-of-its-kind Halo keyboard and Real Pen input. DAYDREAM IS GOOGLE’S VR PLATFORM OF THE FUTURE

Google now has a mobile virtual reality platform. It's called Daydream, and it's built on top of Android N. That means it's not going to compete with the likes of the PC-powered HTC Vive or Oculus Rift (at least not yet, anyway), but looks much more powerful than Cardboard and represents a huge step in the push to advance VR out of its early stages.

From the sound of it, Daydream is a lot like Android for VR. It's a backbone of software inside Android N (simply known as "VR Mode") that provides users with an entire ecosystem to play around in. There will be a home screen with apps (which looks a lot like the Gear VR's home screen, to be honest), and Google has apparently already created special VR versions of its own apps like YouTube, Street View, the Google Play Store, Play Movies, and Google Photos. Other companies, like The New York Times, HBO, Netflix, Ubisoft, and Electronic Arts are already developing for Daydream as well.

The biggest limitation for Daydream seems to be that it will only work on new phones that have special sensors and screens. Google says that those Daydream-ready phones will be available this fall, and that we can expect to see them from Samsung, HTC, LG, Huawei, and more. NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Lenovo has mocked bigger rivals Apple and Samsung in a YouTube video and a full-page ad in New York Times. The campaign titled 'Skip the Sevens" urges people to go for the company's flagship Moto z smartphone instead of iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Galaxy 7 or Galaxy Note 7.

In their praise for Moto Z, Lenovo touts Moto Mods as the key feature. Moto Mods are primarily cases that add functionalities like better camera, battery and more. In the 2-minute video, Lenovo convinces iPhone loyalists to switch to Moto Z handsets with Moto Mods.Titled 'Moto Mods Presents: Skip The Sevens (Focus Groups)', the YouTube video targets so-called iPhone loyalists, makes them sit in a room and shows them the Moto Z smartphone. The twist here is that the presenter initially tells the iPhone users that it is a prototype of the next iPhone model. The handset is then shown acting as a projector, playing loud music and more using interchangeable Moto Insta-Share Projector Mod and JBL SoundBoost Mod.

In the video, the company takes indirect potshot at iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus' battery life by showing the Moto Incipio offGRID Power Pack mod, which is claimed to give 22 hours of additional battery life. For those unaware, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus give 2 hours and 1 hours of extra battery life as compared to the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus.
In the video, before introducing the 'so-called' iPhone prototype, the presenter also asks users what they think about the latest iPhones. HP ProBook x360 Education Edition Is a Rugged 2-in-1 Laptop Aimed at Schools

HP has announced a new convertible laptop aimed just for schools. The company touts the new ProBook x360 Education Edition to be military standard certified to withstand accidental spills and drops by kids, and it is going to be made available worldwide on December 16.

The American tech company claims that the HP ProBook x360 Education Edition is the world's thinnest, yet most rugged 2-in-1 laptop out there. It has a 360-degree hinge to rotate completely into a tablet, or even a tent stand for ease of viewing. Furthermore, there's a dual camera system which uses a 1080p HD camera embedded in the keyboard to let users take video in tablet mode as well.

The 11-inch laptop runs on the latest Windows 10 Anniversary Update and is encased in hard, industrial rubber. The display features optional damage-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass to withstand drops. HP claims that its engineers put the HP ProBook x360 EE through rigorous testing to ensure that it fulfils the MIL-STD 810G standard. The test involved dropping several laptops from an elevation of up to 30 inches to ascertain it durability in school environments.

The keyboard has also been designed keeping in mind the target audience. It is meant to protect the laptop form spills of about 12 ounces of liquid, and the keys are made in a way that it cannot be picked at. Zotac has announced the India price and availability of its VR GO backpack computer, which made waves across the world when it was unveiled in early November. After Microsoft launched its new Surface lineup at its October 27 event, Lenovo can be seen upping the game with its own 2-in-1 offerings. The Chinese tech company launched an improved Miix 510 in August and now it seems Lenovo is bringing a new 2-in-1 to its Miix range. Some details about the new Miix 520 have leaked online along with some unofficial renders that reveal its design.

The Chinese tech company entered the 2-in-1 device arena with its Surface clone last year. At IFA this year, Lenovo launched Miix 510 that included 12.2-inch full-HD display, and models with up to 8GB of RAM and a up to 1TB SSD. Now, as per a new report by WinFuture, a new Lenovo Surface-like 2-in-1 is in the making and its details are out. MacBook Pro 2016 Without Touch Bar Now Available in India

 

The new and improved MacBook Pro was launched with much fanfare last month; however no availability details for the Indian market were revealed then. Even now, the models are listed as 'coming soon' on the Apple website, but Gadgets 360 has learnt that Apple resellers across the country are now receiving stock of the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

We checked with a couple of Apple resellers who confirmed they have received stock, while another Mumbai-based retailer said they have not received any units. The 2016 MacBook Pro is not listed on any of the e-commerce websites either, so it's likely that the stock has only just started trickling in. Just to recap, the 13-inch MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar is priced at Rs. 1,29,900.

Acer launched its Swift 7 laptop at IFA earlier this year. The launch announcement for this laptop managed to grab eyeballs from around the world as the company claimed that it is world's thinnest laptop and first laptop that is thinner than 1 centimetre - 9.98mm to be exact. Now, this laptop has been finally launched in India and will be available for sale from November 18.

The Acer Swift 7 will be available through Acer's exclusive stores and select multi-brand outlets, while online it will be available for sale exclusively via Flipkart. The starting price of the laptop for India has been set by the company at Rs. 99,999. Apart from its impressive thinness, the base model of the laptop sports a 13.3-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It weighs just 1.1kg and can be carried around with ease.

SanDisk, the flash storage company now owned by WD, has launched two new products for mobile users in India: the 256GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Premium Edition card, and the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 pen drive with both USB and Micro-USB connectors. 

The 256GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card is aimed at mainstream users in need of a high-capacity storage expansion option for an Android smartphone or other portable device. Users can record up to 24 hours of full-HD video or store loads of high-quality music and other files. Transfer speeds are rated at up to 95MBps, and the card is also touted to be waterproof, shockproof, temperature proof and x-ray proof. 

First announced globally in June, the new microSD card will be available in India starting from December 2016 as an Amazon.in exclusive, priced at Rs. 13,390. It will later be available more widely online as well as offline.

On Tuesday, the company launched the G213 Prodigy RGB Gaming Keyboard and G231 Prodigy Gaming Headset in India, priced at Rs. 4,995 and Rs. 6,495 respectively. The products will become available in India from Thursday.

The highlights of the Logitech G213 Prodigy RGB Gaming Keyboard are its spill-resistant design, Mech-Dome keys, and of course, the five individual lighting zones for the backlit keys with up to 16.8 million colours. Thermaltake India launches the new Core P3 ATX Wall-Mount Chassis Series

PC DIY and gaming gear brand Thermaltake India officially announced the availability of the Core P3 Snow Edition ATX Wall-Mount Chassis and the Core P3 Black Edition ATX Wall-Mount Chassis.

The Core P3 series retains the classic appearance of the Thermaltake open frame chassis series. MacBook Pro 2016 Models Forego Classic Mac Startup Chime, Automatically Boot When the Lid Is Opened

  

 

Apple has made many changes with its new MacBook Pro models, which were launched last week, and the response has been mixed. While users were not amused by the removal of the glowing Apple logo at the back, they have largely been impressed by the new OLED 'Touch Bar' panel used as replacement of physical functional keys in the laptop. Now, reports indicate the new laptops don't make the usual startup chime that has been present on Mac products since 1998.

The startup chime essentially indicated that the laptop has completed the initial diagnostics successfully and that the laptop is ready for use. The lack of the startup chime was first reported by Pingie, which said that while going through a tech note for resetting the NVRAM, it found that the usual instruction for waiting for two startup chimes was missing. The site has now got its hands on the new MacBook Pro, base 13-inch variant, confirmed that there is no startup chime on the new laptops.

The new Razer Blade Pro comes with a mechanical keyboard (yes, you read it right) that has a large-sized touchpad to improve the gaming experience of users. The laptop packs a 17.3-inch 4K (2160x4096 pixels) display that comes with support for Nvidia's G-Sync technology to eliminate screen-tearing.
If this was not enough, the laptop is also powered by Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor and packs an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card coupled with 32GB of DDR4 2100MHz RAM. The SSD storage options for the laptop range from 512GB to 2TB. In terms of connectivity options, the laptop comes with an HDMI output, an Ethernet jack, USB Type-C, three USB 3.0 ports, and an SD card reader.

As the company has been able to keep the size of the keyboard in check, despite it being mechanical, the laptop is 22.5mm thick and weighs 3.54kg. Due to its powerful specifications, the laptop is well capable of supporting VR content. The new Razer Blade Pro will be available for sale next month.

Xiaomi Mi Wyatt Meter Mechanical Keyboard With LED Backlighting Launched

 

 

Xiaomi has a knack of launching products that mark its foray into new territories from time to time. Now, the Chinese company has launched a sturdy keyboard, named Mi Wyatt Meter Mechanical Keyboard. The keyboard weighs 940 grams and is built out of metal as well as polycarbonate shells. The keyboard has been priced by the company at CNY 299 (roughly Rs. 3,000).
The Mi Wyatt Meter Mechanical Keyboard has 87 keys in total and comes with LED backlighting for typing in the dark. It reportedly comes with a STMicroelectronics master chip, 32-bit ARM architecture, 1000Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time. The keyboard also has a kickstand at its bottom to elevate it up to an angle of 6-degrees.
The keyboard has been launched exclusively for China, with no details on a launch in other markets as of now.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 and GTX 1050Ti Launched 

 

 Nvidia has finally launched its entry-level GeForce GTX 1050 and GeForce GTX 1050Ti GPUs, rounding out the 10-series family which has so far been comprised mainly of high-end products. The new GPUs target entry-level gamers as well as those who are either upgrading an old PC or considering moving away from consoles.
Recommended US pricing has been set at $109 for the GeForce GTX 1050 and $139 for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, with availability on October 25. There will be no reference design or “Founders’ Edition” sold directly by Nvidia in some countries, so graphics card manufacturers will be making modifications and setting their own prices. Gadgets 360 has learned that Zotac will offer three models in India: a GTX 1050 priced at Rs. 10,000; a GTX 1050Ti priced at Rs. 12,500; and a higher clocked GTX 1050Ti OC Edition priced at Rs. 13,700. The two base models will have a single-fan cooler while the OC Edition will use two fans. Other companies will make their launch announcements soon.

HP Spectre x360, Envy Laptops Launched With Thinner Design, Bigger Batteries

 

 HP India on Monday unveiled its next generation premium laptop line-up, consisting of the upgraded Spectre x360 and Envy models, to address the needs of customers at home and on the go.
HP Spectre x360, the world's thinnest 13.3-inch laptop, now comes with a longer battery life and the laptop is expected to be available from the last week of October at a starting price of Rs. 1,34,290, the company said.

The battery life of HP Spectre x360 laptop stands at 15 hours, an increase of 25 percent; the company's Fast Charge technology allows it to power up to 50 percent in 30 minutes and 90 percent in 90 minutes. For connectivity, it has faster Wi-Fi and two USB-Type C ports with Thunderbolt support, and also comes with Bang & Olufsen audio and HP Audio boost technologies.
With a new hinge design, HP Spectre x360 is 13.8 mm thin (over 2 mm thinner than the previous generation) and packs 7th Generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, as well as support for solid state drives (SSDs) of up to 1TB capacity. The bezels around the display have gone down from 15.12 mm in the predecessor to 5.45 mm in the current one, while the weight has decreased as well.

Dell Inspiron 5567 Laptop Launched in India

Dell has announced an addition in its Inspiron 15 5000 series of laptops in India, with the launch of the Inspiron 5567. The company claims that the laptop is suited for work, education, and even for entertainment needs of its users. The company claims the laptop starts from Rs. 39,590 and it is already available for purchase, however, the official Dell India site lists the base model of the laptop at Rs. 57,190. We've reached to the company for clarification.
The Inspiron 5567 laptop packs a 15-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) TrueColor display. The laptop is available with configurations that support up to seventh-generation of Intel Core i7 processors, 16GB of RAM, and AMD Radeon R7 Series graphic cards with up to 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM. The Inspiron 5567 is available with up to 2TB HDD storage. The company claims that the battery on the laptop lasts for up to 10 hours. The laptop is just 23.3mm thick and has been coupled with Waves MaxxAudio for better sound performance.
The Inspiron 5567 laptop is bundled with Office 2016 Home and Student edition and 15 months of McAfee Security center subscription, the company said in its release. The laptop is available in the colours Sparkling White, Midnight Blue, Fog Gray, Black, Bali Blue, and Tango Red.
